I just got a new computer and downloaded Firefox. I used to have all my bookmarks in my bookmark toolbar at the top, and when I opened one of them, it was opened as a new tab. OK, but it opened NOT as a side window, but as a whole window. I could then open any tab that was open as they were indicated in a toolbar at top, but there would NOT be this annoying split screen. Now I cannot find settings to change it back. I find it extremely annoying that a new tab opens off to the left side so I have to scroll to right to see the entire page.

You will need to locate the bookmark that is opening the site in the sidebar (left) using the Library window (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) or the Bookmarks Sidebar (CTRL+B to open or close the Bookmarks Sidebar). Then right-click on that bookmark, choose Properties, at the bottom of the Properties screen un-check "Load this bookmark in the sidebar", then click Save.

When you click on a link on a web page to add a bookmark for that page, it often saves that bookmark with the sidebar option checked, so avoid doing that and add the bookmark for that page in the usual way. See: Bookmarks in Firefox
