Recently I have been unable to log out of yahoo mail completely with firefox. I get the following error message: "The connection has timed out. The server at us.lrd.yahoo.com is taking too long to respond." I have more than one yahoo mail acct. and cannot log into a different acct until the first one is closed out completely. On the error message page there is "Try Again" button. This has occasionally helped but rarely.

I have tried opening FF in safe mode but this has not helped at all. I have used two other browsers to access my yahoo mail to see it the problem was with yahoo or FF. Both browsers repeatedly logged out of yahoo mail without a problem.

My problem is exactly as prh1217 has described: exactly what I'm experiencing and exactly what I have done to try to correct. Additionally, my virus scans are clean, no adware, malware, other baddies present on my PC. This is very frustrating. A quick search of the 'Net shows other Firefox users with this exact issue, with no help from Mozilla so it seems. I love this browser but will dump it soon if some help isn't forthcoming.

I don't think it's a Firefox issue. I switched to Chrome because the newest Yahoo Mail just doesn't work in Firefox, and Mozilla says its a Yahoo problem, which I believe. The email works great while I'm in Chrome, but I can't sign out without going to the Yahoo home page and using that sign out link. Conversely, I CAN sign out in Firefox (been flipping back & forth the past few days trying to figure it out). I just tried it in Internet Explorer and still can't sign out. I never had any Yahoo mail problems in any of these three browsers until the latest version of Yahoo mail came out, and now I just close the browser to sign out -- it's faster, for me anyway.

I solved my Yahoo sign-out problems on 2 computers by simply updating my plug-ins. My bad; I should have already done that before posting here. Additionally, on my PC, there was a plug-in "Yahoo Application State Plugin Version 1.0.0.7" - found info on Mozilla Support that this should be disabled. I did that as well. My Firefox 6 now runs smooth and fast with no hanging at Yahoo sign-out. This is true for both computers.

I do agree with JoyousKid about the bugginess of the last YahooMail version. Hate it. But at least now I can sign out !
