Firefox locks up routinely, and the computer must be rebooted to clear the failure.

unfortunately, there are no codes associated. The only thing that happens is when I hard boot the computer it apologizes and asks if I want to resume or start a new window.. Interestingly, it goes back to exactly where it locked up.....It happened 5 times in a 30 minute span this AM... I am running XP sp3 and a purchased copy of AVG as my security software. this only started to happen after I upgraded to version 7.0 (and now 8.0)..I really need help with this..
