Chosen solution

What is it about changing the geo.enabled preference to false that doesn't make sense?

about:config is an internal address that gives you access to advanced / hidden preferences in Firefox. Double-click will toggle a boolean preference to its' other value. Now, that will only affect "location awareness" that is determined by Geolocation, not when your location is determined by your IP Address.
