Problem Synching Computers <> Software Security Device
My main computer, computer #1 is WinXP and Ff 9.0.1. I have setup my Sync Account and have my key which I cut and paste, so I'm not mis-typing that long thing.
I've waited several hours, and have now gone to my other computer, computer #2, which is Win 7 and Ff 9.0.1. The code [the three lines of 4 characters each] is available, and I'm directed to go back to computer #1.
When I get to computer #1's Tools Options Synch there is no "Add a Device." When I identify myself as already having an account I'm directed "Please enter the master password for the Software Security Device."
1. I've entered my Sync Account key here, but am told it's not valid. 2. I've tried my Master Password [as defined at Tools Options Security] and it doesn't work. 3. And what IS the "Software Security Device?" I've never heard this term before.
Am I caught between instructions for Ff 8.0.x vs Ff 9.0.x?
And how do I get these Synched? Thanks for HELP!

The master password for the Software Security Device" is the password for the password manager.
The Firefox password manager stores the password for the sync account and the sync key that are required to connect to the sync server.
Do you see those entries in the Password manager window?
- Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
You can find the sync password and the sync key in the password manager on the computer where you originally created that sync account (email).
Look for:
- chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
- chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)
Is Sync otherwise working?
