Chosen solution

Yes, 3 is not a valid value of the browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction pref.
You should set the pref to 0 (zero) instead as you can see in the knowledge base article.

Hi cor-el. I had looked at those links previously (from someone else's question) but they didn't seem to help. I had tried setting browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction to a value of 3, which as far as I could understand was the setting which would divert all new windows to tabs in the current window, but bizrate.com was still opening a new window. Is that the wrong value?

Thanks, Corel, that seems to have fixed it. I did read that article but could not understand it as I am not a tech person and most of these things are beyond me.
