Went to OPTIONS. Went to SECURITY. Tried to check the Remember passwords for sites box. The box is locked and wont let me put in the check mark. Why?

hello bobzman, firefox won't save your passwords when you've set it up to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).

If Private Browsing mode isn't causing this then you can check for possible extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
