I am attempting to add this add-on, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/evernote-web-clipper/?src=userprofile

The file downloads, I get the usual alerts about allowing it then this : "Evernote Web Clipper could not be not be installed because Firefox could not modify the needed file"

What "needed file"? I've tried downloading it and installing it that way and still the same.

This can happen if the extension needs to be unpacked in order to work properly.
By default Firefox doesn't unpack an extension, but merely places the XPI file in the Extensions folder in the Firefox profile folder and renames the file to the ID as found in the install.rdf file in the XPI file (ZIP archive).
Extensions that need to be unpacked should have an unpack directive (<em:unpack>true</em:unpack>) in the install.rdf file.
