Many pages I visit contain double underlining in blue and and unwanted popups appear when the mouse comes near them. I am also getting unwanted pop-up videos advertising things appearing on the RHS on the screen and sometimes unwanted tabs are opened transporting me to other sites - some of these are porn sites with nude Asian women - this is all rather pathetic. This just started during the last week.

I am "protected" by Norton security and run Winzip SMART-PC Care Utilities.

Please help.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
