I have tried to download the Firefox web browser on my kindle Fire HDX 8.9" but I can't get it to download from the site, and when I looked at the list of compatible devices the Kindle Fire HDX is not on it. Hope that the browser will decome compatible for my device soon!

You can install it manually. It is suggested to use the Aurora channel builds in order to have updates as the Release and Beta builds do not get updates unless you install by way of Google Play.

Mozilla did submit the Android Firefox (when it was at version 9.0) to Amazon however Amazon resigns modifies and re-signs apk after it was uploaded and caused problems. This has yet to be fixed. Bug#713777
