My tab strip is appearing as part of my bookmarks bar, why?

I prefer to have the navigation bar on top, the bookmark sbar below that and the tab strip below that. The tab strip has now appeared to the right of the bookmarks bar and the more tabs that I open the number of bookmarks shown shrinks from the right to accommodate the extra tabs being opened. Moving the tabs above the navigation bar takes the bookmarks with it like a pair of Siamese twins. How do I get them to appear separately?

Hmm, how did that happen?

If you use Firefox's Customize feature, can you drag the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" entry back to its normal location on the left end of the Bookmarks Toolbar? Either:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Customize
  • right-click the "+" button on the tab bar > Customize
  • View menu > Toolbars > Customize

If it can't be moved, you can reset your toolbars. In the Customize dialog, you will find a button labeled "Restore Default Set".

Any luck?
