Why does a new tab page open along with my home page?
When I go online, I expect to have only my home page open, instead, I have two tabs, my home page tab and New Tab and the New Tab page is the page that actually opens. This just started yesterday, why??

Did you check the home page setting to make sure that it is still correct?
- Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
You can check for problems with preferences.

My home page setting under tools is proper, nothing has changed there.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
It appears I have this issue resolved. NOW, another issue has arisen, when I go to my home page (http://www.weather.com/weather/today/87124:4:US) the US is not capitalized anymore, instead it is "us" which comes up with this message ... "Oh no! The page you are looking for does not exist. Go back, friend, go back!" I keep changing it in the Tools Options area with the above link and I save it. Next time I go online instead of going to http://www.weather.com/weather/today/87124:4:US it goes to http://www.weather.com/weather/today/87124:4:us instead.
Does this also happen in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions disabled?
It is also possible that some security software is changing the URL to lowercase.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
