Auto Shutdown NG 0.9.16 crashes or it does not work with FF 24.x ESR

Hi Everyone,

I'm using Auto Shutdown NG 0.9.16 with Firefox 17.x ESR and it works flawlessly.

However I would like to upgrade the browser to 24.4 ESR. With this latest 24.x ESR release that addon does not work even if it's been activated in a 'green' status in the lower right corner of the browser or it crashes testing the settings (Open Preferences -- Predefined commands ---> Save and Test -- Execute command):

It crashes even testing the other set of commands such as [Shutdon] Windows XP/Vista/7/8.

It's my understanding that instead with the regular FF 24.x it works perfectly, but I have to use ESR releases.

Is there any autoshutdown (after all the downaloads are done) add-on alternative for FF 24.x ESR? Thank you.

It's up to each developer to support their add-ons. Unfortunately, the developer of that extension didn't provide any contact information in the expected place on the download page.

My suggestion is to install Version 0.9.14 from here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-shutdown-ng/versions/ - and disable updates for that extension.

Versions 0.9.15 and 0.9.16 are made for the new download API (in Firefox 26 and later versions of Firefox) and may not be backwards compatible.

the-edmeister,

thank you for your reply. I have already installed the 0.9.14 ad it worked for a couple of reboot. Now the icon in the right corner totally disappeared.

I have uninstalled and resinstalled the extension without results. It is active but the icon is not there.

So the FF 24.5 ESR and 09.14 combination appears to be instable.

Also you clearly remarked there is no way to contact the developer...

So the initial question remain:

Is this 'NG' the only autoshutdown (after all the downloads are done) add-on for FF 24.x ?

Carlos,

It may be hidden in the Customization menu. I sometimes have add-ons that don't get automatically added.

You can see if that's true by going to The image "new fx menu" does not exist. > Customize and see if you find the icon for it and drag it where you want it.

(Removed unneeded a href tag and resized image b/c it cut off) Moses,

Thank you for your reply. The add-on is virtually active and configured but the icon is missing:

I don't understand which icon should I drag, anyway. I'm using regular, traditional full menus and main bars.

Autoshutdown NG 0.91.4 i regularly listed and active, apparently. Also the execute command under the Save and Test works.

The proper icon is the issue.

Please let me know whether an alternative to this addon exists.. thank you.
