there was an automatic update last night changing the whole look of firefox - but I have norton and it disabled my antivirus and hit my c drive I had to restore back a few days to rid myself of it - this is pretty serious - I was not on any different websites than I am on everyday - but the update was the only thing different - please advise

Firefox has nothing to do with any program but itself. It will scan for plugins, but that is it. I suggest you go to the home site of your anti-virus and check for upgrades or download the full installer. Also


Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
