I am trying to follow the directions at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Thunderbird

I have moved prefs.js, abook.mab and history.mab, persdict.dat

I am now trying to move all my folders from MY mail to Local Folders preserving the tree, i.e., I would like to have the same names and arrangement of folders, sub-folders, and sub-sub folders. However when I put the cursor on Local Folders and click <tools> <importexporttools>

<import all messages from a directory> is greyed out.

I then created a folder called "target" and put the cursor on the folder it is not greyed out. However, I I do not know what is meant by "directory". Before there were PCs directory meant what is now called a folder, sub-folder, etc. Does it mean the "MAIL" folder or the "incoming.verizon.net" folder?

I only use email from 1 ISP.

The author of Import export tools uses directory to describe file system folders and folders to describe Thunderbird folders. However what are you trying to achieve? There is very little that can not be done with copy and paste in the file system.
