On my windows 764bit machine now just starting on my 8.164bit Firefox will freeze windows just when I go to the twitter page. Other intermittent times it says Firefox is not responding on all pages. Have tried everything in support no help. Have uninstalled Firefox and installed other Firefox based browsers and the same thing happens, it does not do it with the chrome based browsers. It hangs windows but only has happened on the Twitter page (strange). I have had to use another browser because it has become so bad. Firefox does not generate a crash report when any of this happens, ran in safe mode and with all add ons disabled or removed and it still does the same thing.

Hello,

To find the correct solution to your problem, we need some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:

  1. Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click on help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information.
    • Type about:support into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
  2. At the top of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  3. Now, go back to your forum post, right-click in the reply box and select Paste from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press the Ctrl+V keys) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.

  • about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
