Certain websites open in what appears to be 'safe mode'. Others open fine, those in question open fine in Safari. Is there a solution or, should I switch?
No pics, ads, etc. just text but, not HTML. Started with 1 site -- now up to 3 or 4. Tried deleting cache and cookies, then restart -- no joy.
Please advise,

I see that the icon is on the right side of my browser with a dropdown.
That is the solution -- thank you FredMcD

I am not sure if this means you are trying to connect to sites only in safe mode, if this is the case you may want to check to make sure that none of your add ons are blocked. However if you are in permanent safe mode it is possible to get out of this as well. Firefox is stuck in Troubleshoot Mode
Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and Left click the icon. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select More Information. Now select Permissions. In the menu, find and check the plugins, make sure they are set properly.
Please post the web addresses you are having problems with.
A few webpages/sites that are affected:
http://www.uclick.com/client/sea/tmjmf/#_ga=1.211607069.901192268.1419397938
do get some icons on some of the sites
using macbook pro so not sure if it has a 'safe mode' that is how I described it. also, do not have right and left click. as stated, these sites open fine in safari.
thanks

Problem "solved" by disabling an ad-on called AdBlocker then restarting Firefox. Would still like to be able to use Firefox without disabling it, though.
Thanks

Your extensions list shows the extension, "Adblock Plus 2.0.3". Since disabling the extension solves your Firefox issue I'll mark your question as solved.
AdBlock Plus has its own forums: https://adblockplus.org/forum/index.php If you want to ask about how to use AdBlock Plus without causing problems with specific websites you can ask for help there, if you don't get an answer here.
Enable the Adblock program. Then open the browser to any web page on the site. Click the arrow next to the Adblock icon. Now select Disable On Site Name. Adblock will still continue to do its job, but not on that site.

Thanks for the reply.
The only arrow that I see is the 'back' arrow next to the URL. If I click the round [world??] icon just to the left of the URL a 'page information' dropdown box opens but, nothing mentioning Addblock. The box has page info tabs for: general, media, feeds, permissions and security -- Mainly for cookies and plug-ins.

Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support.
Unfortunately, AliceWyman prematurely chose a solution that was not the best.
tpring12, I see that your issue with Adblock Plus is now solved and cor-el chose this reply as solving it.
For future problems with Adblock Plus or other popular extensions, your best bet would be to visit the extension's own support site or Help forum. Those are often linked from its Mozilla Add-ons page, for example, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ links to http://adblockplus.org/ and https://adblockplus.org/forum/
contributors: See /en-US/forums/contributors/709951#post-57154 Popular add-ons usually have their own support channel. I'd suggest linking to that channel, if it exists. With Add-ons that don't have any other support channel, we might want to consider supporting them as part of the long tail (not in the KB, but in the forums).
