Firefox 35.0.1 won't clear recent history. How is this done?
When I get to the Clear recent history box, 'form and search' is shut off. No 'clear recent history' works from all the places I find it. How does clear history work?

Hi 327480703, I am not certain what you are seeing or have a problem with but I think this list of help articles should answer your questions, unless something is going wrong with your install of Firefox. If somethng is going wrong then by referring to the help articles you should be able to say exactly what step does not work. See
- Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox Note this article lists the specific items that are considered History.
- Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track
- Or for a specific site Forget button - quickly delete your browsing history on Firefox
Note if you use private browsing there will be no history saved and so none to clear.
Do you keep form and search history?
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": "Remember search and form history"
If there is no history saved then there is nothing to delete.
You can rename (or delete) the formhistory.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder to remove all stored saved form data.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
