I opened my email this morning and could see a list of new emails from the weekend. I clicked on an email to open it and nothing happened. I double clicked the new email and it opened a new tab. I could see the subject line and sender but it wasn't displaying the email at all. I tried closing Thunderbird and reopening it and it updated. After it restarted again it has no email messages in my inbox. It is completely empty. Did I just lose hundreds of emails?

Did I just lose hundreds of emails?

Maybe. Sounds like your inbox got corrupted or quarantined by your antivirus. You can try right clicking the problem folder and selecting Properties. Then Repair Folder.

Keeping large amounts of mail in the Inbox is not a good plan as you have found out. Read this article about good email practices.
