My homepage keeps resetting from 'Google' back to the 'Mozilla Firefox Start page', whilst also wiping my sub-reddit shortcuts on Reddit (and the RES add-on).

It always seems to reset after a week or so. How do I stop it from changing??

Do you have cleanup software that is scheduled to run weekly that might cleanup files in the Firefox profile folder?

If you have then exclude the Firefox profile folder.

  • Main profile:
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\)
  • Disk Cache:
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\ (location)

And you might want to set up a daily backup routine so that it's a little easier to restore your settings if the problem continues. This article has suggestions: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

This sounds like a problem with the prefs.js file.

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
