To play videos on hoopla, an online from public libraries, the support on the hoopladigital.com website says:

Browser Issues: Firefox will not play audio or video.

CAUSE: Firefox may need to be updated. FIX: Use this link for instructions on keeping your Firefox browser up to date. Our audio and video playback requires the Widevine Media Optimizer for Firefox. Click here (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/widevine) to install the Widevine Media Optimizer. You may also need to enable DRM. Click here for instructions on enabling DRM.

The link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/widevine

gives a 404 error.

This web page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1041043

with the title "How to download Woodvine Media Optimizer so I can view videos on Hoopla, offered by my public library." has been archived so no further comments in its thread are possible. It mentions that the person who posted the original question got it to work by using Woodvine at the same link that gave the 404 error above. In fact "tools.google.com" just leads you to a download page for the Chrome browser.

The solution posted on that web page (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1041043) is obsolete. Maybe you could delete it and start a new page.

I hope there is a solution. I hate to switch to another browser for this.

Hi, fyi : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1041043 is clearly Marked as This thread was archived. It is not for 57+ There is no point in deleting as it is still of use for Firefox below version 57. Such as 52.7.2ESR version that is still getting updates.

Also in current browsers that should connect to Wildvine as I understand it but not to the URL"s listed.

You can request as I have to put it in a Sub-domain called Archive to further differentiate it. To submit suggestions for new or changed features, may I suggest: Feedback: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/

I will point out that Mozilla Firefox Volunteer Support has no power to move, delete or do any thing or than what I have already said.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

That is a thread on this support forum as it is not a knowledge base article or such. Even then valid articles are either updated or marked as obsolete and not deleted. We do not delete threads here. Some people may think thread deletions happens because Spam threads get marked as spam (hidden) so search engine bots will not see them. That thread is not spam.

The link is posted on https://www.hoopladigital.com/help and by your logic maybe hoopla should delete that whole page also due to having one obsolete url.
