Hello everyone,

I'll try to explain my headache.

I would like to share all mail folders between my Win7 - CentOS dual boot system. This work was well done (both for Local Folders and for Imap/Pop3 live accounts) till the time I decided to place mail folders into a crypted veracrypt container.

The problem is that every time I start thunderbird, all "live" (various pop3 account and one imap account) mails are full downloaded, both for windows and for linux client. Local Folders are OK.

I also moved (with thunderbird -profilemanager) windows and linux profiles into 2 different folders, into veracrypt container.

This is what I don't understand:

- Can I share user_pref("mail.server.server1.directory") live mail folder between different operative systems? Previously this was done, and email were downloaded only the first time.

- All mails are downloaded to (each) profile folder or to this unique shared folder?

- user_pref("mail.server.server4.directory", "P:\\Documenti\\Posta\\Thunderbird\\pop3s.pec.aruba.it"); AND user_pref("mail.server.server4.directory-rel", "[ProfD]../../pop3s.pec.aruba.it"); have to point to the same directory both for windows and linux prefs.js, or each S.O. has to point to its profile folder?

Thank you very much for your help, I wish I make myself clear.

Alessandro.

You cannot share a profile when it is in an encrypted container.

IF I understand you correctly this is only an issue when you use veracrypt. My guess is the on the fly decryption is not occurring fast enough so Thunderbird is treating the mail accounts as new.

Hello Christ, hello Matt,

yes, the only difference is the addiction of veracrypt encryption, and folder paths are changed. I tried to change them by client graphical settings, then by editing prefs.js.

The profile is not shared, only mail folders are shared.
