Links from library not working with FF61

I like to keep my library in a pinned tab (like so chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul) so I have all my bookmarks + history handy without having to open another window with CMD+SHIFT+B every time. As per picture below.

However after the v.61 update if I go to chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul I can still see my library but clicking on the links does nothing, no new tabs open up.

(Ironically if I open the library in a new window with CMD+SHIFT+B the links work, but I don't want to keep two windows open at all time!).

I have discovered that if I go to chrome://browser/content/places/bookmarksSidebar.xul (as per picture below) then the links open, but that 'view' is useless to me since I cannot easily browse my links, see my tags, history etc.

Anyone experiencing this? Is there any way to go to chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul with Firefox 61 and have the bookmarks open like in FF <61??

MANY THANKS!

Hi, it looks like it is indeed something broken, but as far as I know we've never supported it intentionally.

If you want easy access to your bookmarks, you could drag them to the toolbar, though obviously that has a limited width, but that could be enough depending on your use case (you can also have folders on the toolbar).

Hi, thanks for the reply! At the moment I have to stay with FF 60 :(

The screenshots above are from a fresh FF install (to check if it was mine, misbehaving) but my own FF has in fact thousands of links which I need to navigate/check, see tags etc. ... rather impossible to do from the toolbar or sidebar.

I hope it will get fixed soon :)

If it works in a new window then the window you currently use might be broken.

Does it keep working in the new window when you close that first window or does that new window stops working as well after a restart?

Sorry bad wording: with 'new window' I meant the Library window that you open with CMD+SHIFT+B (on a Mac). Links from there work, but having two separate windows at all time is most annoying.

Links from a new tab (or window) opened with chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul do not anymore, after the 61 update. This is my problem.

Links from a new tab, or window, opened with chrome://browser/content/places/bookmarksSidebar.xul do work, but it's no use to me since I cannot see the library in its full content.

Works for me with the chrome URI in a tab on Linux with a double-click with left mouse button or a middle-click and via the right-click context menu.

Can you open the right-click context menu ?

Do you have modified any window. open settings on the about:config page in case that matters?

Yes if I right click I get the usual options including 'Open in new Tab' but if I click on it, nothing happens - just like double-clicking on the link. The new tab does not open. As per picture which is by the way a brand new fresh install (NO modifications to FF config).

The picture is from a fresh MAC OS install on a VMware machine, out of VMware it does the same.

Thank you for looking into this ! :)
