I never opened the e-mail, just checked delete. It was still there in the inbox. I looked in the trash and it was empty. When I went back to the inbox all my other e-mails were gone but, the offending e-mail was still there with a line through it. I tried deleting trash from my profile and it was still there. After several tries it appears to have finally gone; However, when I sent a test e-mail to another account it was returned as "Reason: Permanent Error" even though I received it in the account it was sent to. Virus and malware scans don't show anything but I'm nervous about using this account to send e-mail to others. Thanks for any insight anyone can offer.

right click your account in the folder pane and select settings. In server settings for the account change the delete action to either move it or delete immediately. That you saw is with a strike through your setting is "Just mark it as deleted".

In the end however I do not think you actually have a problem

Thanks Matt.

I do have it checked to "Just mark it as deleted" but, I've never seen one persist lined out. It is gone now anyway. My big concern is that all my saved e-mails were deleted instead of that one the first time I tried to delete it. Everything is gone and I can't get them back. Also, I haven't received a single new e-mail in the days since... very unusual.
