Firefox incomprehensibly went to voice control mode, can't type URL, top right icon is a boxed microphone and a dotted cross, no menu icon. What do?

So, for some reason my Firefox on Android went to voice control mode.

The URL bar has become uneditable, and on the right shows:

1) a microphone surrounded by a square or a box, or maybe a microphone in front of a screen, not sure. It could also actually be a maize plant seen through a window.

2) an "X" cross with a dot in the upper and lower wedge (wuh?).

The Firefox menu icon is gone.

Typing the microphone icon brings up a dialog box "Tap to speak" by Google.

"Get me out of this voice control mode, HAL!"

How do I do that? And why did I get into that mode in the first place?

Well, I got out of it by going into "Settings", "Device Maintenance", "Optimize Now" which cause FF to be closed.

Reopened it, and it's the default mode now.
