I have a new PC, win 10 with Firefox Quantum. My old PC, Win XP, has Firefox ESR 52.9.0.

Part of me setting up the new PC is to import My Favorite Bookmarks and associated Passwords. I have these saved in a folder on the XP machine and on a thumb drive but can't figure out, despite a couple of hours searching, how to import these files to the new Firefox Quantum on the new PC.

Help, in a step by step for dummies answer would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, plug the flash drive into your new machine and open bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML. Or > Restore from a Backup, and navigate to the flash drive. More: Import data from another browser.

That's assuming you have saved them as an HTML file or Backup. If not, you can save them to a flash drive on your old machine by opening bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML. Or > Backup, but note that Backup will overwrite any existing bookmarks when you restore them. Now save to the flash drive and follow the above instructions.

Firefox 52 uses logins.json and key3.db (DBM) for the passwords. In Frefox 58 the SQLite format got enabled by default for passwords and certificates and that means that Firefox 59 uses key4.db as the key file. To make Firefox fallback to key3.db you need to remove an existing key4.db file. Note that you can't merge passwords, so you lose the current passwords when you replace logins.json, so be sure to take a note of your passwords.

How about the Favorites/Bookmarks? I need to at least import those.

The passwords I have written down as a back up so if I must, I can enter them by hand as I go.
