I am receiving emails which say the sender has hacked my account; that he/she has set up various viruses to track the porno sites I visit (I don’t) and wants bitcoin sent to a specific account. If I don’t comply, he/she will send a webcam link to my contact list so I can be watched and a list of the sites to the same contacts. How do I stop this and how do I report him/her w/o compromising my own email address? Thank you.

Hello Forestbilt,

This happens quite often unfortunately. They are always hoping that someone will fall for their threats and actually pay them .......

Things to do :

  • Change the password to your email account
  • Contact your email provider and report it   (they may have an abuse team)

(edit : typo .... )

Sound like a variation of the blackmail email scams like the ones listed at https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/8gsjba/the_blackmail_email_scam/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/9srjen/the_blackmail_email_scam_part_2/###
