Firefox no longer imports IE bookmarks correctly

more options

Firefox no longer imports IE bookmarks correctly. It imports several generic Microsoft looking bookmarks but not mine. We have redirected Favorites so maybe Firefox started looking at a specific location instead of a variable? It had been working fine up until recently (last week or so maybe). I can export the IE Favorites to a html file and import them normally still but need to import from IE directly for multiple users. We recently upgraded to 60.5.0esr and it seemed to be working prior to that. I even downgraded back to 60.3.0esr, but still no go.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,

Rex

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

You may have to open the menu bar in IE if this toolbar is correctly hidden,

  • export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File -> Import and Export
  • import the HTML file in Firefox:
    Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Import Bookmarks from HTML

Hi Rex, how you are redirecting the Favorites folder?

On Windows 10, Firefox's automatic migration may prioritize importing Edge favorites over IE favorites. Can you see your redirected favorites in Edge?
