What URL do I need to input to create a new Thunderbird calendar? Or can I colour-code single events?

New to both Thunderbird and Lightning, I am trying to enable a calendar view that uses different colours for different types of events?

I am trying to 'create a new calendar' but I don't understand the distinction between ical and caldev or what URL I need to input to create a new calendar?

How do I best achieve colour-coding individual events in my calendar?

Can I view and edit my calendar online?

Any help with any of the above gratefully received.

You don't need any of that for a local calendar. To create a new local calendar:
File (Alt-F) - New - Calendar
Select 'On My Computer'
Give it a name, and optionally assign an existing email address to it. This is only needed if you do receive meeting invitations via that email account.
Finish the wizard. That's it.

Consider Calendar Tweaks for options to color events and other items. For network calendars, setup is easier with an add-on like TbSync.
