I have just installed Thunderbird. My email account has a number of folders for my emails. When downloaded they enter from the first email at the top. I need to set all folders to have the last email at the top of the list. How can I set all folders to have the last email at the top when I add a new email account? I have a number of accounts with a number of folders and need the latest email at the top of each folder.

On account, select 'Inbox'. Set the sort order. So if you have oldest email a the top and want newest emails always appearing at the top, click on 'Date' column header to reverse the current sort. Or use 'View' > 'Sort by' and choose 'Date' and 'Descending' and 'unthreaded'.

Then set this on all folders within the account and other accounts by clicking on the small icon to the far right of the column headers, at the bottom of drop down menu use 'Apply columns to' > 'Folder and it's children' > mail account name > select mail account name. Note after doing that you may need to check and set the 'Sent' folder separately because you may not want to see the 'From' column, but instead prefer the 'Recipient' column.
