"View Image Info" missing
I was recently automatically upgraded to a new version of Firefox (87.0). Now when I right-click on an image "View Image Info" is no longer available. How do I get it back? I'm a webmaster, and this feature is very important to me. Thanks.

If you are running Firefox 89 or later, here is how you return View Image Info to the image context menu:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.menu.showViewImageInfo and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from false to true

I used it for a couple of things, but my most common use was to quickly and easily find the filename and directory of a particular image file.
I don't have a straightforward replacement for View Image Info, but I added image info to one of my existing extensions if you want to try it. Its main purpose is to convert WebP files to other formats, but ignoring that for the moment, you can access image info two different ways:
(1) Stand-alone viewer
If you right-click the image and Ctrl+click (or middle-click) View Image to open the image in a new tab, you'll get the info displayed. See first screenshot.
(2) Overlay
When you right-click an embedded image, then click "Save webP as..." the extension displays a bar of conversion buttons, along with an "info" button. The info button provides as much information about the image as I've figured out how to provide as of today. See second screenshot.
Extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/save-webp-as-png-or-jpeg/
Maybe I can make that a little more targeted, but not this weekend.

Some context menus have been cleaned up in Firefox 87 and the "View Image Info" item has been removed along with some others. The best workaround is probably to check the image in the Inspector via Inspect Element in case there are a lot of images instead of scrolling through "Tools -> Page Info -> Media" depending on your use case.
You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.
Related bugs:
- 1690029 - Move image related commands into single section of context menu
- 1692553 - Remove the "View page info" item from the page context menu
- 1700239 - "View Image Info" is no longer present in contextual menus

Hi, what were you using this feature for? For example, image URL, dimensions, etc.
I used it for a couple of things, but my most common use was to quickly and easily find the filename and directory of a particular image file. Yes, I know I can use "Inspect Element" but "File Info" was quicker and easier for me. Thanks for asking.

I agree, the new menu is almost useless and it takes longer to get to what you want! ;-(( Just looked at Chromes menu and it has a few more options than Firefox, but it is also lacking! My favorite was "View Page Info", now it's 3 clicks away! smh

Thank you JSCHER2000. That Right-click on image then CTRL-click on View Image is a good trick. I wish they'd restore the "File Info" option, but at least now I have a convenient way to determine an image's filename and directory. I'll mark this solved on that basis. Thanks again.
Hi bhartford, I posted an extension more similar to the old feature last week, and after six updates (busy week) I think it's better alternative for most people than my other extension. If you want to take a look:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/view-image-info-reborn/
If you can think of new/different features to improve it, let me know.
Meanwhile, there is work under way to return the built-in feature in a future update, maybe in two months.

Looks good to me, provides all the info I need. Thanks.
You mentioned that there is work under way to return the built-in feature in a future update, maybe in two months. That's great, thanks. The fewer extensions I have to use the better. Does that mean that others beside me asked for a return of the More Info feature?

Yes, there are at least 5 threads here and some on other sites, too.
I don't see "view image" in context menu. Why do you remove such useful feature? At least leave a control to show/hide it.

Hi Alexander, "View Image" changed to "Open Image in New Tab".
"View Image Info" can be returned to the menu in Firefox 89 by making this change:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.menu.showViewImageInfo and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from false to true

I too find it incredibly useful to have the view image info on a right click. The inspect feature may be good for digging deeply into the code, but it's overkill just to find out an images information.. Please bring it back.. Ultimately it means using older versions in order to keep the features we know and have depended on. If you want to keep losing users, then keep on loosing features.
Mozilla is trying to alienate it's users, I am sure of it. Close Tabs to right now has an extra click.. And this is cleaning it up, adding an extra click. Okay, there is a workaround but it's not pretty. What was wrong with "Undo Closed Tab" rather than the longer "Reopen closed tab". Firefox used to be the only browser I would consider using. I can't stand Chrome, M$ offerings have never been an option since FF was born.. Thank goodness there are a couple of alternatives in Palemoon and Waterfox. The former has options to save web pages in MAFF or MHTML files with extensions still available. However it is missing some things.. The jury's still out on Waterfox as it's following FF more closely.
