why when I close a window (by mistake) I no longer get the previous warning; I am closing multiple tabs, do I wish to do this? (or similar) please, please, reinstate this, I have twice closed multiple open tabs by mistake in this way.
Using Firefox 65.0 (64 bit) PC Browser
When I close a window (by mistake) I no longer get the previous warning; "I am closing multiple tabs, do I wish to do this?" (or similar). I have twice closed multiple open tabs by mistake in this way.
I thought it was a restart that was responsible when I lost a lot of open tabs in (&) one window, until it happened again but this time I know what happened I closed the window, but the usual warning ws not received. Please, please, reinstate this.
It might help also to have the close tab 'x' further away from the close window 'X'.
Can these be done?

This was a change that took place in Firefox version 94. If you want to see a warning when closing a window with multiple tabs:
Go to the Firefox menu , click on Settings and, in the General panel Tabs section, select the option, Confirm before closing multiple tabs.
See Tab preferences and settings and How to configure Close Tab warnings in Firefox for details.

Many thank for the quick solution.
Although I am very happy with the solution, I can only wonder why on earth was this change introduced without bigger warnings to alert me to this change in the security attitude of the window.
I had expected the warning if I mistakenly chose the wrong 'x', however when I did make that mistake (which is very easily done, certainly when working in white on black background.) this warning did not come as it had 'always' done before, resulting in me losing a lot of working tabbed pages and positions on websites I had considered of importance, on two occasions before I realised the changed response.
I am fine with improvements, corrections, and upgrades, as long as they are made clear to users if they will change functions already in place.
Hi, The change was announced in the Firefox 94 release notes, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/94.0/releasenotes/ ... at the end of the New section:
Firefox no longer warns you by default when you exit the browser or close a window using a menu, button, or three-key command. This should cut back on unwelcome notifications which is always nice--however, if you prefer a bit of notice, you’ll still have full control over the quit/close modal behavior. All warnings can be managed within Firefox Settings. No worries! (More details)
There's a "What's new" link to the release notes in the Firefox settings General panel under the Firefox Updates section (next to the Version number) ... but many users don't check there after an update, especially if they don't notice any changes right away.
Anyway, I agree that this change was likely a surprise for users who depend on the close tabs warning. You can add feedback here: https://ideas.mozilla.org
