I tried uninstall/reinstall; using pop settings supplied by AOL for Verizon email account. I am still able to access email via AOL email web site Thunderbird keeps requesting password input, then returns 'unable to log in at server. probably wrong config, username or password.' Suggestions most appreciated.

AOL/Verizon requires an app password in place of the account password in TB. The account password is still used to access webmail.

The one-time app password worked for Thunderbird; thank you! Same issue/question for Windows Live Mail which also worked until recently. It continues to ask for password to be entered and returns unable to log on, etc. Tried the app password suggestion, but it didn't work for live mail or Windows Mail (Version 16005.14326.20544.0Version 16005.14326.20544.0) Thanks again.

I think you have to generate a separate app password for each device and mail app, so there should be different ones for TB and WLM on the same computer, and different ones for the account on other devices such as laptops, phones or tablets.

I tried your solution for my Windows Live Mail and MS Mail app which also worked until recently. Didn't work, so I will continue to search support groups, so again, my thanks for your time.
