The google search bar in the top right hand corner of firefox no longer does local a search. It now only uses google.com, how do I put it back. I have looked on the FF extensions page but can't find anything for Australia only.

The google search tool bar on the top right of FF no longer does local a search. It only uses google.com, which has changed and also doesn't have the 'pages from Australia only option'. How do it put it back? That is to say, I type what I'm looking for in the FF search bar and it gives me results from a local google search.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Google changed the search functions

Hello Heywow.

You may want to go into View > Toolbars > Customize... > Restore default set to restore your interface to default. If that doesn't bring back the search bar, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

If you are having problems with search engines in Firefox, see this support article:

Go to this address: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?country=AU

Item 24 lists 3 installable major search engines for Australia.

You can also restrict your search in Google by including country:au or location:au or city:perth (for example) in your search terms. Example: city:sydney plumbers in the Google search box will list plumbers in cities named sydney.

thanks TXGuy, your solution fixed it for me, i had the same problem. Morbus i tried your solution but it kept Google as the default search (not Google Australia). not sure why this changed, it always used to default to the Australian page. thanks anyway

Hello, I have the same problem too.

Did Google or Firefox get rid of that?. At least I would expect to be easily customizable (I understand some ppl may like google.com).

I don't like the idea of typing extra key words in order to get what I want (like the "city:yourcity" example), I just want what Firefox used to have on its search bar, cause it is getting annoying.

Cheers.
