A sub folder containing Bookmarks has disappeared. The Search facility finds the individual Bookmarks ... however it gives NO information about the FOLDER in which the bookmarks are contained!! How can I retrieve the lost folder when the Search facility gives NO information about folders? The folder information MUST be part of the Search result, otherwise the Search itself is useless in most cases!

This add-on will add a new column to the right panel in Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks: Show Parent Folder: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7372/

After installation and restarting Firefox, -in Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks, click Views > Show Columns, click Parent Folder. You can drag the column headings in the right panel to order them to your preference. -also see Options in Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, click on Show Parent Folder, click Options.

The above addon does not solve the problem for the search in the bookmarks sidebar, which is what one (at least me) is mostly using, and using all the time, which makes this problem quite frustrating.

Samuel Lampa Found this at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox with the search term sidebar search within Bookmarks:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/55977/

You might try some searches there yourself.

@TXGuy: Many thanks, that was a very helpful addon, and neatly solves my problem!

Also, I found out that the Go parent folder addon solves the same problem, although the one you pointed to does it even better.

You're welcome Samuel. Yes, Show Parent Folder is for the Library (Organize Bookmarks) window, Sidebar Bookmarks Search Plus is for the Sidebar. Go Parent Folder works in both. Just don't get overloaded with add-ons that may cause some conflict with each other. Now, you see how you can search for add-ons at the add-ons page.

Since the original poster, Philip Perkins, never responded to my previous post, I do not know for certain that Show Parent Folder was what he needed. I made an assumption in his case that he was searching using the Library window.

I keep my Bookmarks in hundreds of neatly organized, nested folders. When I can not find something in the Bookmarks Sidebar, I use the Show Parent Folder add-on in the Library window and search by keywords and/or tags.
