When I try to update Flash from Adobe, Firefox does not give me an "allow" button but directs me to d/l file gp.xpi. I do this and try to open it with Firefox but nothing happens. I'm trapped in this loop.

When I go to Adobe.com to d/l Flash Player 10, Firefox give me a bar at the top of the browser saying "Additional Plugins are required to display all the media on this page." An "Install missing plugins" button appears to the right. When clicked it says it "No suitable plugins were found." It offers a manual install of file gp.xpi, which I d/l. Windows doesn't know what to do with this file. I read that I should open it with Firefox, but that doesn't work. So I'm trapped in this loop and now can't access any Flash content. Any help HUGELY appreciated! I can't bear going back to IE...
