The University of Kentucky's Enterprise Application Group recommends users not upgrade to Firefox versions higher than 3.5.

Firefox versions 3.5 and lower are supported by SAP and work well for the myUK portal. EAG will continue to monitor the progress of Firefox 3.6 and higher toward full compatibility and will announce when SAP provides full support of the higher versions.

Foolish recommendations from UK, advising students to use an old, unsupported version. Firefox 3.5 came out in June 2009, and 3.6 in January 2010. Support for Firefox 3.5 has ended already, and support for Firefox 3.6 is expected to end in 2 or 3 months.

Keep the version of Firefox you now have for use on the internet, and install a legacy version of Portable Firefox 3.5 to your hard drive for use on your school's intranet.

Portable will install all by itself and won't affect any other version of Firefox you already have installed. Using two regular versions of Firefox involves creating additional Profiles and multiple desktop shortcuts with command line arguments, where the "Portable" version doesn't.
