Firefox doesn't launch. Immediatly after launching, crashes report appear. Safe mode doesn't working. The last upadte of Firefox version was well done. The crash appears after a system crash of Seven (repaired by system tools), after a windows update, but I don't know if ther is a link. Opera browser is crashing at launching for a week. I don't know if there is a link between all these events, but it might be helpfull ...

Firefox 7.0.1 Crash Report [@ js::Bindings::getLocalNameArray(JSContext*, js::Vector<JSAtom*, int, js::TempAllocPolicy>*) ]
This is probably caused by or related to a "Frankenstein-build"; an update or system restore went wrong so some files belong to Firefox 7 and some belong to Firefox 8.
You can try to solve this by deleting your current Firefox and downloading and installing a new fresh copy.

Hi helgdb,
If you used Windows System Restore that often breaks firefox.

(Firefox developers are working an ways to circumvent some of these problems, and have changed file names in newer revisions of firefox to circumvent some of the problems eg Bug 702045 {but currently you may need to use the nightly channel to benefit from changes} )

So one highly likely possibility is Windows System Restore has broken Firefox.

IF so you will probably need to do a clean re-install of Firefox, note when doing so delete the Programs folder, not the profiles folder.

Please post back with how you get on, good luck,
John

Crash Info
If it is the System Restore problem, I thought at least in some cases breakpad failed to catch these, but I have seen others and your crash info is

  • Crash ID report: 7920cc09-9254-4a47-9933-4dfb42111119
  • Crash Signature js::Bindings::getLocalNameArray(JSContext*, js::Vector<JSAtom*, int, js::TempAllocPolicy>*)
