Recently , I uninstalled McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise ,Threatfire & Deep Freeze from my p.c. Thereafter , I re-installed Threatfire , & installed Avast Anti Virus & Comodo Firewall . Since I made these changes , Firefox 3.6.17 started to hang so I uninstalled it & downloaded & installed Version 8.0.1 . After that , Firefox crashes every time I try to open it even before it has opened up . Why is this happening ? Do I need to specify it as a trusted application (exception) in any of the Security applications that I have installed ? I already specified it as trusted in Comodo . Was this necessary ? I even completely uninstalled & then re-installed it all over again but still it crashes . What could be the solution ?

To zoom in on the problem , I tried opening it in Safe Mode but it still crashes straightaway. However , if I start Windows in Safe mode or "Safe Mode with Networking" and then start Firefox 8.0.1 , then it starts up correctly . So , I assume , it has to be one of the following 3 causes that is making it crash :

(1) Is one of my Start Up Programs that is causing Firefox to crash .

Following is list of the running processes when I start my p.c. (Other than the one's that are displayed when I start my p.c. in Safe Mode) :-

(i)rundl32.exe (ii)vsnpstd3.exe (iii)FLVsrvc.exe (iv)RTHDCPL.EXE (v)VideoAccelerator.exe (vi)wmiprvse.exe (vii)alg.exe (viii)Cpa_VA.exe (ix)taskmgr.exe (x)Apache.exe (xi)unsecapp.exe (xii)ctfmon.exe (xiii)cfp.exe (xiv)mysqld-nt.exe (xv)TFTray.exe (xvi)AvastSvc.exe (xvii)wdfmgr.exe (xviii)cmdagent.exe (xix)TFService.exe (xx)snmp.exe (xxi)Ymsgr_tray.exe (xxii)Psiservice2.exe (xxiii)Ioctlsvc.exe (xxiv)nvsvc32.exe (xxv)nlssrv32.exe (xxvi)msiexec.exe (xxvii)jqs.exe (xxviii)CLPS.exe (xxix)cisvc.exe (xxx)AvastUI.exe

Could one of these be the culprit ?

(2) Or is it a Virus ? ( Ran "Avast Boot time Scan" twice but even after that it crashes ).

(3)It is Avast , Threatfire or Comodo Firewall that is making it crash ?

Looks like ThreatFire is causing the crash. Are you running the latest version?
