Whenever I open Firefox, besides my home site, I get another tab that opens up the same site without my asking for it. How do I get rid of this annoyance?
The affected site gets loaded in a second tab along with my home page when I open up Firefox. How can I stop this site loading automatically?

Hi lennynyr,
Out of curiosity, what is the extra site? You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article How to set the home page.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article Preferences not saved.
Hopefully this helps!

Matt, the extra site is http://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2012/1/1/2672651/why-waiving-sean-avery-was-the-right-decision-for-the-new-york-rangers
Ever since I accessed that site last week, it has added itself as an extra tab on my computer. I'll try your suggestions and get bqack to you on them. Thanks.
It was my home page selection opening up both sites. I deleted them and typed in the site I wanted. Working OK now, thank you Matt.
