URL address bar pressing "enter" default action

Previously, when I would type or paste a URL in the address bar then press "enter", the browser would immediately attempt to go to that address. It was equivalent to selecting the arrow on the right of the address bar, the "go to the address in the location bar" button. It no longer does this. I would assume there is a default setting that must have changed in my installation. How to get "enter" to be equivalent to selecting the arrow?

If you have AVG Safe Search Extension enabled, disable it, and try again.

otherwise

in Options window then Advanced panel then General tab then Browsing session, UNCHECK Use hardware acceleration when available, click OK to save it, exit firefox and restart it.

Thanks Ideato. Though your second suggestion did not help, the first, disabling the AVG Safe Search Extension did the trick!
