Started to have this problem with FF13. My standard session has 3 tabs (2 webmail and 1 group). Upon launch of FF14.0.1 the 3 tabs show but only the 1st actually loads. I have to click on the other 2 to load them individually. Of course once loaded they stay loaded and update for the session. In FF12 upon launch the 3 tabs would show and all load at the same time ready for use. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing or an incompatibility with Session Manager? Thanks in advance, Mike.

This is a new "feature" which some people appreciated (like me, because I may have as many as 200 tabs open) and some people didn't (if they only had a few open). It allows FF to load more quickly. If you want to change it, in the menu bar, go to Tools | Options, then click on Tabs, and UNcheck the item that says "Don't load tabs until selected".

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: When Firefox Starts:
    • Show my windows and tabs from last time
    • Don’t load tabs until selected

You can also check and try to modify these prefs on the about:config page.

  • browser.sessionstore.restore_hidden_tabs
  • browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand
  • browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand

Thanks folks. "UNcheck the item that says "Don't load tabs until selected" That cured it. I just wonder how many others were puzzled by this new 'feature'. Rather think the option should have been 'unticked' by default. Mike.

Note that this setting has been moved to the Tabs panel in Firefox 15 and later.

  • Tools > Options > Tabs
    • Don’t load tabs until selected
