Javascript enabled caused firefox to crash
I'm using vista 32 home. Ever since Firefox 9 or 10 came out it crashes. I uninstalled firefox completely, including my personal information and registry entries, and downloaded the latest version 17.0.1. I have no extensions, no add-ons, no themes, so I'm running all brand new out of the box. With javascript enabled, firefox slows to a crawl or crashes. It happens on every web page I visit that uses javascript. When I disable javascript, everything works fine, with the exception of not being able to use javascript, which most websites use. This happens on only one of my three computers that run firefox. The older XP works fine and the windows 7 works fine. IE and Chrome all work fine. Any ideas on what else to check?

Is this Java or Javascript?
JavaScript - under tools - options - enable JavaScript. Enabled crashes, unchecked, it runs fine.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
You posted this with a Windows 5.2 (Server 2003) user agent (Vista would be NT 6.0):
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.2) AppleWebKit/537.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/23.0.1271.97 Safari/537.11
Are you using another computer to post this or are you running Firefox in compatibility mode?
I tried it in safe mode and the same thing, JavaScript enabled froze, Un-enabled, worked fine. My system says it is a vista home premium with service pack 2. I am using the same laptop to follow and respond to this post, but I'm using Chrome browser.
Turning Javascript off makes firefox work like normal. Other browsers have no issue. This started acting up on me about 4-5 days ago. Quite annoying to not be able to run firefox with javascript on. Is there a way to reinstall javascript?
I have tried safe mode, resetting firefox, reinstalling firefox, disabling addons, changing profiles, it really comes down to javascript being turned off fixes it for me. So despite being fairly computer savvy, I have no idea what is causing this. I ran Microsoft security essentials, a few malware/spyware utilities, checked hijackthis. I cannot find the issue. Firefox likely submitted 50+ crash reports.

Keep getting crash report not found. Couldn't find OOID, even for crashes that are several days old.
