Did you download/install the 32-bit version of Java? Firefox is a 32-bit browser and will not use or recognize the 64-bit version of Java. Read the following carefully. Depending on the browsers installed on your system, you may need to download/install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and keep both updated.

Other - Update to the lastest Firefox version 23.0.1. Information submitted with your question shows that you are using the out of date version 22.0.
