Bookmarks.html will not import

After spending hours removing #$% 'Do Searches' from my computer Firefox was giving some strange results so I decided to totally reinstall a clean copy. I exported my bookmarks to bookmarks.html on the desktop as suggested. Totally removed Firefox - Downloaded a clean copy and reinstalled. When I try to import the html file nothing happens. I have followed the instruction in the help page. Still Nothing-Nada-Nix. No indication that anything is happening at all.

Importing didn't used to use the Unsorted Bookmarks folder at all. The support article might need to be updated, or maybe it's a bug.

Does deleting the places.sqlite file in the profile folder work.

If you open the exported bookmarks.html file in a Firefox tab (e.g., double-click it), does it contain your bookmarks as you remember them?

Imported bookmarks may be nested in an imported bookmarks folder on the Bookmarks menu instead of taking their original places. You can check for that and reorganize them using the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b or Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).

Thanks for you input. I eventually found my bookmarks in the Unsorted bookmarks folder ( 6 Times).

I just wish that a message that the file had been imported and the location of the bookmarks had come up after Importing. I would not have done it six times. Also stating that I would have to manually place the bookmarks where I wanted them. No mention of this in the help. (Hint to developers)

Silly me assumed that the Import was a reversal of the Export and would place the bookmarks back where they come from as all the relevant information is in the html file.
