Firefox 45.0.1 on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1

I navigate down through folders of my bookmarks and then press and hold a few bookmarks to open them in new tabs. After I close those tabs and return to the tab with the bookmarks it has returned to the top level of my bookmarks and I must navigate down through the folders again.

Is there a way to prevent Firefox from reverting to the top level of bookmarks after I leave the tab and just stay where I left it?

That is not possible with the current design. It may be quicker to search for the bookmarks by typing a few words or letters of the name or site.
