when I am sending an email and I end the letter everything below the closing double spaces. why?

After I finish typing the body of my email and I end it as I would a letter i.e Sincerely, I then double space and write three different sentences that reference me and they all double space. Why?

It may be because you have the Enter key set to enter an extra blank line, which is the default for paragraphs in HTML: this is the 'new' behaviour set as the default in Thunderbird 45. Instructions to turn it off are here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-thunderbird-45
