Hi

Downloading a legitimate update to Firefox would not normally need a password, but if you have locked administrator rights in Windows, it may require that password to accept the update. Firefox on Ubuntu should not need a password to update.

Duh... my bad. Confused with other laptop that has Win 7 Pro on one partition. Sorry.
