Is there a way to disable the recently bookmarked list in the Library bookmarks section?

I've just downloaded the new Firefox Quantum, which looks and feels great, and is easy to customise to my liking. My only big problem is that when I go to view my bookmarks via the menu's 'Library' tab, it shows me a list of recently bookmarked pages and there doesn't appear to be a way to disable this feature. I know it's still early into the release, but has anyone found or does anyone know of a way to disable this yet? It's not something I particularly want to see seeing as I organise all of my bookmarks pretty diligently

thanks

Hi

There is a way to swap this out for the traditional bookmarks menu:

  • Click on the three lines "hamburger" menu and select "Customise"
  • A screen will open that will you to drag the library icon off the toolbar and replace it with the bookmarks icon.

I hope that this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

Thanks for the fast response guys!

What you've shown here is very helpful and will make accessing the bookmarks much easier for sure. I should be clearer, however. My question pertains the accessing the bookmarks section via the "hamburger" menu.

When opening the "hamburger" menu and selecting library -> bookmarks, it shows the recently bookmarked menu in full and has no visible way to disable it. This is less of a problem with the bookmarks icon now in play, but with Christmas fast approaching I have some gift ideas bookmarked that are showing clearly in this view that could be stumbled upon by potential recipients

Is there a way to remove this?

Hi

There is a way to do that that might just work, but is a little technical and should be done with care.

  1. From the bookmarks icon you have added to the toolbar, select "Show all bookmarks". This will open a mini window.
  2. From the "Import and Backup" option, export your bookmarks to HTML.
  3. Open the HTML you have downloaded in a word processor and remove the "Recently Bookmarked" line.
  4. Save the file as HTML and using Firefox, import back in the bookmarks tool.

This should work, but it is not something I would recommend. If you do want to do this, make sure you keep a backup of your bookmarks just in case it goes a bit wrong.

Why are parts from the discussion removed?

For example my wish that Firefox should not be able to collect the recent bookmarks and that there should be a simple button to stop it (not only hide it, because that doesn't stop the collection).
