passwords not showing on other versions
Hi,
I needed to export my password data into a secure addon that I use for firefox. Unfortunately for me, the addon wasn't compatible with QUANTUM.
I uninstalled the latest version, then installed:-
Firefox 56.0.2
logged in and synced, then went to my passwords after sync, to check if they were all in there. I found just on, the login to this account here.
I then uninstalled Firefox 56.0.2, and installed:-
Firefox 52.7.3esr
Again, after entering my account details for syncing, I checked the passwords. Again, just one showed up.
I uninstalled Firefox 52.7.3esr, and then reinstalled the latest firefox Quantum.
After entering my account details, and, syncing, I found all of my logins were showing.
I don't know why my logins are not showing for previous versions of firefox, but as you can see, I have tryed several different versions.
Could you help me with a workaround for this please? thank you

Hi, you do not mention other devices that you are Sync'd with. It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.
If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of these article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
Hi thanks for your reply. As this relates to Firefox on my home computer in not sure the relevance of telling you what synced devices I have? I'm also not sure where you got the idea that o use this as backup. Firefox is my daily browser of choice, so I'm not sure if that's something I need to be clearer with in my original post.
The point I am making is, that when installing older Firefox, or ESR versions, the "snapshot" -or backup if you will - is not resynchronization properly, and, I'm wondering why this is.
Clearly there isn't a data corruption problem, as when I sync with the latest version, all of my logins show up there.
I've also tried creating a new profile and transferring the data over to that he profile bit that hasn't worked so far.
